Divan Beds

A divan bed combines a sturdy upholstered base with a mattress, often with storage built in. Our divan bases are hand-crafted and come with no drawers, 2 drawers, 4 drawers, continental drawers or ottoman lift-up storage, in a choice of fabrics and colours. Sizes from 2'6 small single to 6'0 super king.

Divan Beds Buying Guide

A divan bed is a sturdy upholstered base with a mattress on top. Because the base is a solid box rather than an open frame, it gives the mattress even support from edge to edge and leaves room for storage inside. It is one of the most practical beds you can buy: compact, comfortable and easy to fit into any bedroom. Our divan bases are hand-crafted.

Divan bed storage options

Choose the storage that suits your room and how much you need to keep:

  • No drawers – a clean, simple look, ideal if you already have plenty of storage.
  • 2 drawers – one drawer on each side, handy for bedding and clothes.
  • 4 drawers – two drawers on each side for the most drawer space.
  • Continental drawers – larger drawers on one side, a good choice when one side of the bed is against a wall.
  • Ottoman lift-up – the whole base lifts on gas struts to reveal the largest storage space of all. See our ottoman beds.

Leave around 60cm of free floor space beside the bed so drawers can open fully.

Divan bed sizes

  • 2'6 Small Single – 75 x 190cm, for children and small rooms
  • 3'0 Single – 90 x 190cm, for one adult or a growing child
  • 4'0 Small Double – 120 x 190cm, for one adult who likes extra space
  • 4'6 Double – 135 x 190cm, the most popular size for couples
  • 5'0 King Size – 150 x 200cm, more room and 10cm extra length
  • 6'0 Super King – 180 x 200cm, the most space for two

Choosing your mattress

Every divan bed comes with a mattress, so pick the comfort that suits how you sleep. Pocket sprung divan beds give individual support and less partner disturbance, memory foam divan beds mould to your body to ease pressure, and pillow top divan beds add an extra soft layer. Already have a mattress? Choose a divan base on its own.

Finish the look

Choose your fabric and colour, then add a matching headboard. Strutted headboards bolt to the back of the divan base, so there is nothing to fix to the wall.

Do your divan beds come with a mattress?

Yes. Every divan bed includes the base and a mattress. Already have a mattress? Choose a divan base on its own.

Can I get a divan bed with storage?

Yes. When you order, choose no drawers, 2 drawers, 4 drawers or continental drawers. Most of our divan beds can also have an ottoman lift-up base, which gives the most storage space of all.

Can I add a headboard to a divan bed?

Yes. You can choose a headboard when you order your divan bed. Strutted headboards bolt to the back of the divan base, so there is nothing to fix to the wall. See all headboards.

What is the difference between a divan bed and an ottoman bed?

Do your divan beds have a sprung or platform top base?

All our divan beds have a platform top base: a solid, flat top that gives firm, even support under the mattress. The comfort comes from the mattress you choose.

Which fabrics and colours can I choose?
