1988
Nigel Cairns the founder of Bed world and today MD of Bedworld.net opened his first store Gold Star Carpets, beds and Furnishings in Leeds. With his dedication and passion
for the furniture industry the store was a success.

1989
Nigel opened his first bed superstore store called Bed world. Over the next five years Bed world expanded to other locations and built up a reputation for  supplying brand name Beds and Mattresses,  excellent service and unbeatable prices.
Now having multiple stores on the high street Bed world decided to expand.

Expansion of Bed world in a modern way.

1998 
at the height of the dot com boom or bust as it was called, Nigel was convinced that the best way to expand the business was to invest in technology and the internet. To become the first online bed superstore. Although web sites were selling holidays and perfume online no one had committed to selling beds online in a massive way.

1999
www.bedworld.net  was launched. The first online bed superstore in the UK. The first online order that bed world received was from a gentleman in Kuala-lumpa. He ordered two beds to be delivered to his apartment in London. Bed world started to receive orders from all over the world and every city in the UK.

2001
In a short space of time Bedworld.net had grown into a multi million pound company and  the UK'S number one online bed retailer that was recognised by all in the bed industry.

2002
Bed world had now out grown all its premises and invested in a purpose built office complex and 20,000 sqm warehouse to cope with the increase in business.
Taking the business forward in such a way has enabled Bed world to stay at the forefront of online bed retailing.

2006
The growth and achievements that Bed world have attained are unprecedented the web site now receives 1.5 million hits per day and continues to grow as the UK'S number one online retailer of Beds. Since the launch in 1999 Bedworld.net have pioneered many innovative programs such as Mattress next day and bed next day. Services like these are what the modern day bed retailer has to offer. No longer do customers have to wait weeks and weeks for a new bed or mattress Bed world deliver nationwide the very next day.
