Sleep is Vital to Survive
Sleep is vital to survive. Vital to continue with every day life and vital to excel where we want to excel.
A study performed on a group of 80 teenagers aged between 13 and 18 showed that the teenagers who averaged between 8 and 10 hours sleep a night were over 70% more likely to perform at their peak the following day.
Reducing the sleeping duration to 7 hours, a 12% drop, resulted in a noticeable drop in concentration levels.
Did you know that 95% of adults sleep in the same position every night. Whether its just what we are (no matter after how many years departed from our mothers stomach) used to or that we just find it more comfortable 40% of people sleep in a foetal position meaning that most people prefer to fall asleep on their sides.
We will usually move around while sleeping, but it is most likely that we will always fall asleep and wake up in your preferred position.
Healthiest Sleeping Position
Sleeping on your back is the healthiest position from the perspective of the body. While this position may be the most comfortable for you, it is less likely to lead to a refreshing night’s sleep and in many adults can lead to heartburn during the night.
Adults are most likely to snore or suffer symptoms of sleep apnoea when lying on their backs.
Pregnant women are more likely to sleep on their sides than on their backs. Sleeping on the back is not recommended for pregnant women as it can lead to backaches and a decrease in blood supply to the placenta.
Sleeping on the left side of the body can help get blood and oxygen to the placenta and a growing baby.
All of this information proves that the amount of hours we sleep and the way in which we sleep is crucial to the vitality of our recuperation nightly.
Be sure to set aside enough time to catch your 40 winks and be sure to get comfortable during this act. I would advise a memory foam mattress to do the job correctly.
