Memory Foam Mattress

Memory Foam MattressesMemory foam mattresses are the mattresses of our future. Many people have not yet understood the importance and the gravity of the situation at hand, when it comes to mattress decisions. If you are a healthy individual, between the ages of 18-28, you may not understand what I’m talking about! But again, if you are 30+ and you are rolling around in your bed, it may be time that you heed to what I’m saying. The simple fact is that the right mattress choice can eventually be a life and death decision, with the BSC (Better Sleep Council) discussing the fact that a good mattress can drastically improve the quality of your life!

The best mattresses that I’ve come across thus far is the memory foam mattress that was initially developed by NASA in the early 1970s. This was during a time of great trial and tribulation for NASA, and thankfully something positive came out of it! The Memory foam mattresses have a great deal of scientific prowess and technological advancements within them.

I thought it was so cool that these mattresses are made from a chemical called polyurethane, and that these additive chemicals can have major leaps and bounds for adjusting the comfort level of the mattress. The Viscosity level, or the ability for the mattress to morph and be flexible is increased by these chemicals, and as a result you see an increase in the density of the materials that make up the mattress. These mattresses are commonly called “Visco-elastic fibres.”

The real beauty of these fibres, or the mattress that is composed of these fibres, is the fact that it adjusts the firmness based upon the actual temperature of the environment. Therefore, if the temperature in the room is cool while you are sleeping on the mattress, the mattress will then become firmer and tighter around your body. Visa Versa, if the temperature is warm, you will see softer and less firm mattress underneath you. The lower the density, the more pressure adjustments can be made.

Since buying the visco-elastic foam mattress, many people have come up to me and told me that I was a fool for making the decision when I can buy much cheaper foam mattress. Obviously I didn’t bother to tell them that I’m making a decision that will positive affect the quality of my life and that there is money well spent here. Instead I told them that memory foam mattresses are much denser than the foam mattresses that they are used to. This in turn creates a more steady and heavier mattress that will be firm when I need to be and not as firm during warmer environments. The higher the density of the mattress, the slower that there is a change between positions and the more firm the mattress will be. That way I don’t have to pick between a soft or firm mattress and can have the best of both worlds! Yet, there are so many options and configurations available when choosing a memory foam mattress; remember to choose the right height, density, and type to combine to the more suitable personal mattress.
